--- TO MY FRIENDS ---
Summer is a time when
various types of accidents take place.
Be extremely cautious of fires
and possible drowning situations!
Try not to drive for too long,
it's always good to take a break when driving
in order to remain safe.
By chanting powerful daimoku
let's keep clear of carelessness!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Therefore, it will be very difficult for evil persons to do you harm. And if by chance something should happen to you, then you may be certain that it is a retribution in this present life for the hatred that you manifested in some previous existence towards a votary of the Lotus Sutra. Retribution of that kind can never be avoided, no matter how deep one may be within the mountains or how far away at sea."

(Gosho, On Consecrating an Image
of Shakyamuni Buddha Made by Shijō Kingo,
Writings of Nichiren Daishonin I, pg. 687)

"Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'It is the heart that is important' (WND-1, 1000).

"The heart is invisible, but it has the power to significantly change our visible realityIn accord with the Mystic Law, the great law governing all life, fundamental change in one person's heart not only transforms their own life, but also transforms society and the land in which they liveThe doctrine of 'three thousand realms in a single moment of life' taught in Nichiren Buddhism explains this.

"The Daishonin assures us that all actions that arise out of faith, based on a wish for the happiness of both ourselves and others, 'will implant benefits and roots of goodness in [our] life' (cf. WND-1, 4). Our heart, our mind, determines everything."

What distinguishes someone as a truly cultured person, a person of outstanding character? The Swiss philosopher Carl Hilty (1833–1909) had a clear answer to this question. Cultured people, he wrote, always possess 'enthusiasm and eagerness for whatever is good.'"

[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 27th July - 2nd Aug. 2015 Words of the Week, 27th July 2015 Daily Gosho & 28th July 2015 Daily Enc.

A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

July 27th - August 2nd, 2015
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Bonds of trust are indeed a lifetime treasure.
Let's take every opportunity

"But how great is the difference between the blessings received when a sage chants the daimoku and the blessings received when we chant it?' To reply, one is in no way superior to the other."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----

"Changing our karma, realising happiness for all humanity, and creating a peaceful societyall begin with a change in our hearts.

"Nichiren Daishonin speaks of the 'wonderful workings of one mind' (OTT, 30).The workings of the human heart and mind are truly mysterious.

"The Daishonin states: 'This mind that is beyond comprehension constitutes the core teaching of the sutras and treatises' (WND-2, 844). Nichiren Buddhism is ateaching of value creation that allows us to open the limitless treasure house of the mind, the heart

"As the Daishonin says: 'It is the heart that is important' (WND-1, 1000; WND-1, 949). The intention in one's heart determines everything.

"We can achieve completely different results depending on how our minds perceive thingswhat they decide, and what they prompt us to do at each moment, each instant. This is the essence of faith in the Mystic Law, and the principle of 'three thousand realms in a single moment of life.' Our true capacity as human beings is determined by what we have in our hearts and minds."

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Saturday, July 25th, 2015
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Learning is the power of illuminate.
To be a "leader" means to
make a constant effort to study
so as to continually improve ourselves.
Let's try to become first-class leaders
who have a profound philosophy and insight.

Saturday, July 25th, 2015
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"So, when you come of age and take faith in Buddhism, you must first of all think of paying the debt you owe to your father and mother. Mount Sumeru is paltry in comparison to the towering debt you owe your father; the great ocean is shallow compared to the profoundness of the debt you owe your mother. You must bear in mind these debts you owe to your father and mother."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"There is not the least doubt that we, the members of the SGI, are Bodhisattvas of the Earth. We are all great emissaries of the Buddha.

"We have indisputably been carrying out the noble mission of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth to sow the seeds of Buddhahood in the lives of all people and making actual efforts towards the realisation of kosen-rufu. No one can destroy this organisation acting in accord with the Buddha's intent and decree, nor should we allow anyone to try.

"Nothing will ever hinder our progressWe will continue to freely and confidently open new paths for kosen-rufu. We will lead wonderful, fulfilling lives. This is the true purpose for which the SGI exists and the essence of Nichiren Buddhism."

[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] To My Friends & Daily Gosho 24th July 2015 + 25th July Daily Encouragement

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Friday, July 24th, 2015
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Never ever give up, no matter what!
It's such unyielding determination
and decisive action
that opens the door to glorious victory.
Let's start everything
by chanting the type of daimoku
that shakes the Buddhist gods
and activates their protective powers
to assist us!*

*"When you shake your head, your hair sways; when your mind begins to work, your body moves. When a strong wind blows, the grass and trees can no longer remain still; when the earth shakes, the seas are atremble. Thus if one can move Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, can the grass and trees fail to respond, can the waters remain calm?" - "Concerning the Statue of Shakyamuni Buddha Fashioned by Nichigen-nyo", WND-II, page 811

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

(On Establishing the Correct Teaching
for the Peace of the Land
- The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin,
Volume 1, page 17)
Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin",
Seikyo Shimbun, July 24th, 2015

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"We are all bodhisattvas endowed with good fortune and profound karmic ties to the Mystic Law from the distant past. As the Daishonin states:

'These great bodhisattvas [who emerged from the earth] are particularly suited to bring benefit to people in the Latter Day of the Law, like fish who are at home in the water or birds that move freely through the sky. When people in that corrupt and evil age encounter these great bodhisattvas, the seed of Buddhahood will be implanted in them, just as when a piece of crystal is exposed to the light of the moon, it produces water, or when a peacock hears the sound of thunder, it conceives.' (WND-2, 551)

"The Daishonin says that the Bodhisattvas of the Earth freely take action to sow the seeds of Buddhahood in the lives of people in the Latter Day of the Law and benefit themThey have the power to bring benefit to everyone they encounter, everyone with whom they are connected."
