--- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT
"'When we chant Myoho-renge-kyo,* the Thus Come One of the essential nature of our minds [i.e., our Buddhahood] becomes manifest, and the sounds that reach the ears of others wipe out their offences accumulated over countless asamkhya kalpas.** When they respond with joy even for a moment, they attain Buddhahood in their present form. Even though they may not believe this, the seed has been planted, it is maturing, and through it they will invariably attain Buddhahood.'

From "The Doctrine of Three Thousand Realms in a Single Moment of Life"

           (WND-2, 87).

"When we chant and tell others about Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, we open for them the direct path to attaining Buddhahood. Even if they do not believe in the Mystic Law at that time, we bring immeasurable benefit to our own lives and theirs.

"Our dialogues as Soka Gakkai members embody the essence of Nichiren Daishonin's 'Buddhism of sowing,' planting seeds of hope, happiness and peace in everyone's life. The more we engage in Buddhist dialogue, the more people will form connections with Nichiren Buddhism. Taking pride in our mission as 'seed sowers,' let's reach out with open hearts to one friend after another to awaken them to their noble Buddha nature!

Towards a Hope-Filled Future with the Daishonin's Writings, Planting Seeds of Hope and Happiness in Our Friends' Hearts, October 4th, 2023 issue of the daily Seikyo Newspaper, translation released November 2023.

* Myoho-renge-kyo is written with five Chinese characters, while Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is written with seven (nam, or namu, being comprised of two characters). The Daishonin often uses Myoho-renge-kyo synonymously with Nam-myoho-renge-kyo in his writings.

** Asamkhya is a numerical unit of ancient India used to indicate an exceedingly large number, while kalpa in ancient Indian cosmology refers to an extremely long period of time
