"In his treatise 'On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land,' Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'If you care anything about your personal security, you should first of all pray for order and tranquillity throughout the four quarters of the land, should you not?' (WND-1, 24). 'Order and tranquillity throughout the four quarters of the land' means the peace and prosperity of society and the world.

"If religious practitioners shut their eyes to humanity’s most pressing challenges and turn their backs on society, they abandon the fundamental mission of religion—to help people attain happiness. Genuine Nichiren Buddhists throw themselves into our troubled and chaotic world and strive to free people from suffering."
