--- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---
"Even though we practice, if jealousy, resentment, or hatred towards fellow members fill our hearts, we cannot accumulate benefit or good fortune. Nor will we experience true joy, inspiration or vitality. No matter how we try to keep up appearances, we will remain unhappy inside.
“So how do we prevent this? The Soka Gakkai is a realm of faith. Everything begins and ends with faith. It’s essential to see all things through the lens of faith.
“What is faith, then? It is to have absolute conviction that our lives, our own hearts, contain all phenomena, and that we ourselves embody the Mystic Law and are Buddhas. Nichiren Daishonin writes: ‘You must never think that any of the eighty thousand sacred teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha’s lifetime or any of the Buddhas and bodhisattvas of the ten directions and three existences are outside yourself’ (WND-1, 3).
“The Daishonin urges us to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo with our whole heart and polish our lives, believing that the boundless life state of Buddhahood resides within us. This, he teaches, is the only way to free ourselves from suffering and delusion. You are all inherently Buddhas. Always believe in that potential; never doubt it. There’s no need to compare yourselves to others or to let such comparisons determine your happiness.”
