"The Daishonin says: 'Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish your mirror [your heart] day and night. How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo' (WND–1, 4)."

"Those who persevere in Buddhist practice with patience, with faith like flowing water, will win in the end. Steady, continual efforts will open the way to a new age of kosen-rufu."

"it's important to have absolute faith in the Mystic Law. Faith is the sharp sword that cuts through fundamental ignorance; it is the means through which we are able to obtain the wisdom of the Buddha's of the three existences (cf. OTT,54). As the Daishonin assures us: 'Although [we] may encounter various difficulties, if we do not harbour doubts in our hearts, we will as a matter of course attain Buddhahood" (WND – 1, 283).

With such strong determination,
chant daimoku deeply 

from the bottom of your heart!
Nam-myoho-renge-kyo 

is like the roar of a lion.*

"Never give devilish functions the chance to take advantage—the Daishonin  cautions the Ikegami brothers. He urges them to unite in one mind and make chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo their foundation.

"Our faith and practice are a battle between the Buddha and devilish functions. Such negative workings lurk where there is carelessness, arrogance and disharmony.

"It's crucial, therefore, to chant strongly and act wisely, firmly determined not to cause or be involved in traffic, fire and other kinds of accidents.

"Let's remember to 'be millions of times more careful than ever' (WND – one, 839).
