[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] Resending of 30th Nov. 2014 To My Friends & Daily Gosho plus 1st Dec. 2014 Daily Encouragement

* We seem to have a bug in the system. Apologies for the second error! And thanks for everyone's great humour! SIRI is now being taught how to chant! …Have a great week!

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Sunday, Nov 30th, 2014
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
If we try to talk to others
our circle of friends naturally develops and expands.
Every time when we speak with honest concern and a caring attitude,
the trust between us and others becomes stronger and deeper.
Let's take a courageous step forward
and get involved where the action is
promoting dialogue wherever we can with others!

Sunday, Nov 30th, 2014
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Although I and my disciples may encounter various difficulties, if we do not harbour doubts in our hearts, we will as a matter of course attain Buddhahood. Do not have doubts simply because heaven does not lend you protection. Do not be discouraged because you do not enjoy an easy and secure  existence in this life."

(The Opening of the Eyes- The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol 1, Page 283)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'Though I may be a person of little ability, I have reverently given myself to the study of the Mahayana. A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet.'

From "On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land" (WND-1, 17).

"The renowned British historian Arnold J. Toynbee was among those sought to learn from the profound insights of Mahayana Buddhism.

"What wondrous karmic connections we must possess to have the fortune to study the essence of Mahayana Buddhism!

"Embracing the eternal teaching of respect for the dignity of life, we can attain a boundless state of eternal happiness.

"Based on the Daishonin's unsurpassed principle of 'establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land,' we can build an unsurpassed network for peace.

"By practicing the world's foremost philosophy, we can advance serenely, covering vast distances."

[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 29th Nov. 2014 To My Friends and Daily Gosho plus 30th Nov., 2014 plus 30th Nov., 2014 Daily Encouragement

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Saturday Nov 29th, 2014
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To all of our fellow members in the Chugoku Region,
who are brimming with the courage of lion kings,
now is the time to open up a way to the future
by taking actions
with a proud pioneering spirit.
Let's develop a great solidarity for peace!

*The Chugoku Region of Japan includes Hiroshima, Okayama, Yamaguchi, Tottori and Shimane prefectures.

Saturday Nov 29th, 2014
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Each of you should summon up the courage of a lion king and never succumb to threats from anyone. The lion king fears no other beast, nor do its cubs. Slanderers are like barking foxes, but Nichiren's followers are like roaring lions."

(On Persecutions Befalling the Sage - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol 1, Page 997) Selection source: SGI President Ikeda's guidance, Seikyo Shimbun, November 29th, 2014

Sunday Nov 30th, 2014
—— DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ——
"'If one's heavy karma from the past is not expiated within this lifetime, one must undergo the sufferings of hell in the future, but if one experiences extreme hardship in this life [because of the Lotus Sutra], the sufferings of hell will vanish instantly.'

- From "Lessening One's Karmic Retribution" (WND-1, 199).

"As practitioners of the supreme teaching of the Mystic Law, we will never be defeated by suffering. We can definitely overcome it. Our lives will never end in misery.

"The Buddhist principle of 'lessening karmic retribution' is a teaching of hope that elucidates the quintessential power inherent in life that enables us to withstand all hardships.

"When the sun rises, darkness disappears. Similarly, when we persevere with strong faith in the Mystic Law, the time will definitely come when all our sufferings 'vanish instantly,' as the Daishonin says. The problems that cause us the greatest suffering represent a brilliant opportunity for achieving dynamic development in terms of expanding our life condition."

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

Thursday Nov 27th, 2014
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To our courageous members of the Great Chubu* region.
You have always been at the forefront of kosen-rufu
as the brightest star in the sky!
With our strong faith and practice,
let's truly move the protective forces of the universe into action,
and raise the flag of glory upon our indomitable castle!

*Central Japan covering Aichi, Gifu and Mie prefectures

Thursday Nov 27th, 2014
--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one
might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow
and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the
prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."

Friday Nov 28th, 2014
---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Everything is constantly changing. Our Buddhist practice enables us to steer those changes in a positive direction—the direction of happiness.

"People can always change for the better. We can also change our environment for the better.

"The Lotus Sutra teaches that the Buddha transformed the land three times, turning it into a pure land (cf. LSOC11, 212–13). Kosen-rufu is the great struggle to carry out such a transformation in our environment and turn the troubled saha world in which we live into a Buddha land—that is, a realm of happiness and peace. As such, instead of lamenting challenging situations, let's rouse the strong determination to change them.

"It took Shakyamuni repeated times before the land was fully transformed. Therefore, let's always keep in mind that only by chanting wholeheartedly and persevering in our efforts for kosen-rufu can we positively transform our communities."

Nichiren Daishonin says:
"Trifling matters accumulate to become grave ones."*
Learning from this spirit, let's steadily work on
accumulating small victories on a daily basis!
The most important condition for winning in life
is to keep on steadily progressing,

"Dewdrops accumulate to form a stream, and streams accumulate to form the great ocean. Particles of dust accumulate to form a mountain, and mountains accumulate to form Mount Sumeru. And in the same way, trifling matters accumulate to become grave ones. How much more so in the case of this matter, which is the gravest of all!"

"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Momentum is key to winning in every struggle for kosen-rufu. The inner determination of leaders is the force that increases this momentum.

"First, as leaders, are you striving with a momentum driven by a firm determination to succeed? It's important that you brim with an unwavering resolve to triumph without fail.

"Second, are you advancing with the momentum to refute the erroneous and reveal the true? I hope a passionate spirit of justice and truth will burn brightly in your hearts.

"Third, are you forging ahead with the powerful, lionlike momentum of mentor and disciple? Please advance with the spirit of oneness of mentor and disciple, confidently sharing Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism with others.

"Fourth, are you progressing with dynamic, unified momentum that will open the way to unceasing victory? Please show people throughout the world the underlying strength of Soka through the unity of 'many in body, one in mind.'"
