[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] Words of the Week, March 28th - April 3rd 2022, Daily Gosho March 28th & Daily Encouragement March 29th

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

March 28th-April 3rd, 2022
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Nichiren Daishonin states,
"the seeds of Buddhahood sprout
as a result of conditions."*
Let's have cheerful conversations
that are like a refreshing spring breeze
that help people to form
a connection with Buddhism.
Let's develop and propagate
strong grassroot bonds
between people,
with the confidence that
this is the very way to
create the hope for peace!

*"I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province. It is stated that 'the seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions, and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.'"

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"A blue fly, if it clings to the tail of a thoroughbred horse, can travel ten thousand miles, and the green ivy that twines around the tall pine can grow to a thousand feet."

- WND, Vol. 1, page 17)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could make our hearts sparkle and shine in the same way that our homes and rooms do after a good cleaning?

"Nichiren Daishonin teaches how we can do just that. The key to polishing our hearts [so that they shine like a clear mirror], he explains, is chanting daimoku—Nam-myoho-renge-kyo . It is praying not only for our own happiness, but also for the happiness of our families and friends.

"The Daishonin says: 'Arouse deep faith, and diligently polish your mirror [your heart] day and night. How should you polish it? Only by chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo' (WND–1, 4)."
