This is a famous maxim exhorting us to remember with gratitude and appreciation the source of the life-giving water we drink.
"Xi'an Jiaotong University has produced a mighty river of capable people, who embody this deep and ardent spirit of always remembering the source and returning to the starting point, of advancing and working unstintingly to repay the debts of gratitude they owe to others."
