--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If in a single moment of life we exhaust the pains and trials of millions of kalpas, then instant after instant there will arise in us the three Buddha bodies with which we are eternally endowed. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is just such a 'diligent' practice."
(Ongi kuden - Gosho Zenshu, page 790, The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 214)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Birth, aging, sickness, and death are all part of the human condition. No one can avoid facing illness at some point in their life.

"In a letter of encouragement to the lay nun Myoshin, the Daishonin notes that her husband, through his long struggle with illness, had now been motivated to seek the Buddha way day and night without cease (cf. WND-1, 938).

"Falling ill is not a result of weak faith. Falling ill, however, can serve as an opportunity for us to strengthen our faith further, as well as a crucial turning point in our human revolution, enabling us to deepen our state of life towards attaining Buddhahood in this lifetime. When we fearlessly confront illness, we can awaken to just how precious our life is. And when we stay aligned to the Mystic Law throughout all, we can perceive the eternal life-state of Buddhahood within us.

"In a letter to Shijo Kingo and his wife whose infant daughter was seriously ill, the Daishonin declared: 'If we consider the power of the Lotus Sutra [Nam-myoho-renge-kyo], we will find perpetual youth and eternal life before our eyes' (WND-1, 413).

"No matter what sickness or adversity may befall you or a loved one, I hope you will chant powerful daimoku that resounds throughout your family like an invincible lion's roar to triumph over all obstacles. Please encourage and set an example for others through achieving a brilliant life of victory imbued with the four noble virtues of eternity, happiness, true self, and purity."
