--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And could not this illness of your husband's be the Buddha's design, because the Vimalakirti and Nirvana sutras both teach that sick people will surely attain Buddhahood? Illness gives rise to the resolve to attain the way."
(The Good Medicine for All Ills - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, page 937)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"What is the secret to finding true fulfillment in life? Pearl Buck (1892–1973), the American author of such acclaimed novels as The Mother and The Good Earth, wrote: 'The secret of life and content is to begin a new day with courage and with the belief that it can be made the best of all days, whatever change it brings.'[1] While lovingly caring for a daughter who was born with severe disabilities, Buck also worked for peace and human rights.

"The sun of time without beginning rises unfailingly in the hearts of all of us who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo day after day and year after year. Even in the darkness of adversity with no end in sight, we can revitalise our lives with the light of hope through invigorating gongyo and daimoku."

SGI Newsletter No. 8690, Bringing the Sun of Time without Beginning to Shine in Our Lives, from the January 2013 issue of Daibyakurenge, translated 17th Dec. 2012
