The spirit of making collective, collaborative efforts
abounds and pulsates amongst the noble members of Tokaido*!

let the song of great victory of the people ring out!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"In the Latter Day of the Law, the votary of the Lotus Sutra will appear without fail. The greater the hardships befalling him, the greater the delight he feels, because of his strong faith. Doesn't a fire burn more briskly when logs are added? All rivers flow into the sea, but does the sea turn back their waters?"

(A Ship to Cross the Sea of Suffering - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 33)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"A Buddhist anecdote, which appears in The Treatise on the Great Perfection of Wisdom, tells the story of the eye-begging Brahman. In a past existence, Shariputra, one of Shakyamuni's disciples known as being foremost in wisdom, was practising the bodhisattva way, engaged in the offering of alms, when a Brahman appeared and asked him for one of his eyes. Shariputra responded by plucking out his eye and giving it to the Brahman.

"The Brahman, instead of thanking him, declared that the eye stank, spat on it, threw it on the ground, and crushed it. Shariputra was stunned. He decided he could not help such a person, and he gave up his bodhisattva practice.

"It is only natural to feel that our efforts have been worthwhile and be motivated to work harder when we are recognised and praised by those around us. Part of a leader's responsibility is to acknowledge, commend, and encourage those who are making dedicated, earnest efforts.

"However, even if we are not praised or properly appreciated, it is important that we don't end up resenting leaders and other members, or lose our enthusiasm. That only erases our benefit and good fortune and causes us to stop growing."
