From Richmond, UK to you...

A translation of President Ikeda's "To My Friends"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin encourages us
with the following words:
"Fortune comes from one's heart
and makes one worthy of respect."*
Happiness is something that we create ourselves.
It's through refreshed
pure faith and practice
that the most fragrant flowers
of our unique missions in this life
fully blossom.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Today there are people who have faith in the Lotus Sutra. The belief of some is like fire while that of others is like water. When the former listen to the teachings, their passion flares up like fire, but as time goes on, they tend to discard their faith. To have faith like water means to believe continuously without ever regressing. Since you visit me constantly, regardless of the difficulties, your belief is comparable to flowing water."

(The Two Kinds of Faith
- WND, Vol. I, page 899)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"
When things aren't going the way you hope or when you feel that what you're attempting to achieve is impossible—such times are perfect opportunities for you to deepen your faith. The people and issues you have to deal with that are causing you problems actually contribute to making you a better and stronger person."
