[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 26th Feb. - 4th March 2018 Words of the Week, 26th Feb. Daily Gosho + 27th Feb. Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

February 26th-March 4th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Struggles transform into brilliant achievements
(through our practice).
The Daishonin asserts,
"But still I am not discouraged."*
What's important is not to give up
by challenging ourselves
with an indomitable spirit
to take one more step
and try yet again.
Let's, all of us, challenge ourselves
with a lively youthful spirit!

*"Because I have expounded this teaching, I have been exiled and almost killed. As the saying goes, 'Good advice grates on the ear.' But still I am not discouraged. The Lotus Sutra is like the seed, the Buddha like the sower, and the people like the field." - "The Essentials for Attaining Buddhahood" - WND-I, page 748

 --- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The wonderful means of truly putting an end to the physical and spiritual obstacles of all living beings is none other than Nam-myoho-renge-kyo."

(The Wonderful Means of Surmounting Obstacles
- WND, Vol. 1, page 842)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The German writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) said: 'in thy life postpone no duty,/And thy life be deed on deed.'1

"Life is limited. Having been born into this world, let's make the most of our lives. A future of one brilliant achievement followed by another is created through living the present to the fullest.

"Nichiren Daishonin states: 'the vow we speak of is the vow to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and propagate the teachings' (GZ,846)."
