What creates a new era
is the power and energy of youth.
To all my beloved young friends,
To all my beloved young friends,
who are challenging to become
"bluer than indigo",*
scale new peaks for kosen-rufu
scale new peaks for kosen-rufu
with enthusiasm and in high spirits!
*The allegory of the indigo plant is often used to indicate the disciple growing to surpass the mentor or to describe how deepening one's practice leads to strengthening one's faith. This expression is based on a passage in the classical Chinese work titled "Hsün Tzu." "Great Concentration and Insight" reads, "From the indigo, an even deeper blue."

And it's also important to show the basis for your ideas--for instance, by citing concrete data and actual examples. If what you say is reasonable, no one can fail to accept it. Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'Buddhism is reason. Reason will win over your lord' (WND –1, 839). Sharing Buddhism with others is the best means for developing your powers of persuasion."
