[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] September 1st, 2021 To My Friends & Daily Gosho + September 2nd Daily Encouragement

* There was a spelling mistake in the Daily Encouragement yesterday! "Expand" should have been "expound." Our apologies, we hope it did not cause too much confusion or misunderstanding!

A translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Natural disasters
often happen unexpectedly.
Let's never forget this
and ensure in our everyday life
to be prepared for such times.
Let's make the time to discuss
how we will contact each other
when a disaster occurs,
making sure that we are aware of
where evacuation sites are, etc..

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"I am praying that, no matter how troubled the times may become, the Lotus Sutra and the ten demon daughters will protect all of you, praying as earnestly as though to produce fire from damp wood, or to obtain water from parched ground."

(On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'Even a stranger, if you open up your heart to him, may be willing to lay down his life for you.'

– From 'On Rebuking Slander of the Law and Eradicating Sins' (WND–1, 444).

"Nichiren Daishonin sent these words to Shijo Kingo, who was battling adversity. He tells his disciple to warmly embrace everyone and care for them as one would one's own children. When we treasure others with sincerity and genuine concern, we will also be protected.

"In these troubled times, people are yearning for warm support and hope-filled words. Our dialogues to create a peaceful world by spreading the principles of Nichiren Buddhism forge heart-to-heart connections, uniting the goodness inherent in the depths of our own and others' lives. Let's continue in our efforts to create precious ties of friendship and trust throughout our societies."

Spreading the Brilliant light of the Daishonin's Writings, [37] "Creating Precious Ties of friendship and Trust," 20th June 2021 issue of the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released July 2021.
