[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] 1st-7th November, 2021 Words of the Week, 1st Nov. Daily Gosho + 2nd Nov. Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

November 1st-7th, 2021
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Congratulations on this
golden autumn month of
the Soka Gakkai's founding,
where everyone's songs of victory
are all ringing out!
How immense the praise
of Nichiren Daishonin must be!
He assures us,
"(This is just the beginning;)
be confident that the great reward
also is sure to come."*
Let's further extend the
"Treasure Light"** around the world
for establishing society
where people's happiness
and peace are secure.

*Gosho: "Unseen Virtue and Visible Reward", WND-1, page 907
**In the Lotus Sutra, the god of the sun is referred to as the "Jewelled Glow," written with the same Chinese characters as "Treasure Light."

FOR YOUR REFERENCE: In the Lower House general elections held in Japan on Sunday, October 31st, 2021, all 9 candidates fielded by the Komeito party in single-seat constituencies won and another 23 were voted into office on the proportional representation ballot. The Soka Gakkai in Japan provides electoral support to the Komeito Party, a coalition partner of the present government. The party aims to give political voice to the most vulnerable and under-represented members of society, with policies promoting peace, social security, education, the environment and human rights. The Soka Gakkai as an organisation does not provide financial backing to any candidate or political party. Outside Japan, Soka Gakkai does not engage in politics.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Flowers blossom in spring, and fruit ripens in autumn. Therefore, it is only natural to sow seeds in spring and reap the harvest in the autumn."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The Daishonin teaches: 'to have faith like water means to believe continuously without ever regressing' (WND–1, 899). He is saying that we must keep polishing and forging ourselves based on faith in the Mystic Law.

"He also writes: 'Be diligent in developing your faith until the last moment of your life. Otherwise you will have regrets' (WND –1, 1027). No matter what happens, we need to rouse ever-stronger faith and move ahead tenaciously and positively so we have no regrets. Those who make earnest, steadfast efforts in faith will never succumb to despair. Faith is the ultimate source of hope, for it enables us to find meaning in every situation and bring forth the wisdom and strength to take a step forwards.

"The true benefit of faith in Nichiren Buddhism is this inconspicuous benefit of building an unshakeable, indestructible life state."

The Buddhism of the Sun--Illuminating the World, [68] Be Victors in the Journey of Life and Kosen-rufu, Maintaining Steadfast Faith Means Challenging Ourselves Each Day, December 2020 Daibyaku Renge Monthly Study Journal, translation released October 2021.
