Deeply moved and inspired by one of these lectures about a year after I had started practising Nichiren Buddhism, I wrote in my diary [in September 1948]: 'How fortunate I am to encounter the infinitely profound and immeasurable doctrines of the Lotus Sutra! ... To be a practitioner of the Mystic Law. Am I really taking action I can be proud of? Am I really free of doubt in the depths of my heart? Faith depends on me?'
