-- DAILY GOSHO --
"The Lotus Sutra says in its fifth volume, 'The heavenly beings day and night will for the sake of the Law constantly guard and protect them.' If we go by this passage of the sutra, then it would seem that Brahmā, Shakra, the gods of the sun and moon and the four heavenly kings ought day and night to guard and protect those persons who chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo."

--- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ---
"My mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda, was a brilliant mathematician. He often said that faith inspires us to gain an understanding of the principles of Buddhism, and that such understanding, in turn, deepens our faith.

"As you practise Nichiren Buddhism in earnest, you may start to wonder why we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and why our prayers are answered. You'll want to know the reasoning behind these things. Studying Nichiren Daishonin's writings can provide you with the answers to such questions. At the same time, looking for those answers helps further deepen your faith.

"The Daishonin writes: 'The [Chinese] characters of this sutra [the Lotus Sutral are all without exception living Buddhas... But because we have the eyes of ordinary people, we see them [only] as characters' (see WND-1, 486). If you continue to read the Daishonin's writings, combined with regularly chanting daimoku, all the words contained in those writings will come to manifest the power of the Buddha and be vigorously absorbed into your young lives.

"In his writings, we can see the Dishonin's firm resolve to uphold the correct teaching of Buddhism and his powerful conviction that all forms of hardship and adversity can be overcome without fail. The Daishonin shows us the way to attain absolute happiness, so that life itself becomes an unsurpassed joy."
