-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Today and everyday,
let's continue to move forwards unceasingly.
Now, with the spirit of 'exerting ourselves bravely and vigorously,'*
making patient and persevering efforts,
let's advance along the great noble path of kosen-rufu,
victoriously and successfully!

*"Nichikan Shonin (1665–1726), who is known as a great restorer of
Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism, wrote in his "Egi Hammon Sho" (Interpreting
the Text Based upon Its Essential Meaning): You should understand that
"exerting oneself bravely and vigorously" (cf. LS2, 23; Jpn. yumyo shojin)
refers to faith and to chanting daimoku....A commentary [on the Lotus Sutra]
states: "Yu (bravely) means to act with courage, and myo (vigorously) means
to expend all one's wisdom.... Sho (pure) means unadulterated, and jin
(effort) means ceaseless advance."

"Dr. Margarita Vorobyova-Desyatovskaya of the Institute of Oriental Studies
of the Russian Academy of Sciences is a world-renowned scholar of the Lotus
Sutra. She has said: "Please continue your efforts! Please keep moving
forwards. Each step you, the members of the Soka Gakkai, are taking is
leading the people not only of Japan but the entire world toward peace,
security, and happiness." (SGI Newsletter No. 7651, SGI President Ikeda's
editorial to November 2008 issue of Daibyakurenge, "Exerting Oneself Bravely
and Vigorously Is the Soka Gakkai Spirit")

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"The reason that you have survived until now when so many
have died was so that you would meet with this affair."

(Reply to Yasaburo - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin,
Vol.1, page 829) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin",
Seikyo Shimbun, November 6th, 2008

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Another vital requirement for maintaining a united organisation is the
accurate transmission of information to the central figures. Mr. Toda often
declared that those who fail to report on matters of crucial importance to
the organisation are like enemies. Those who lack unity of purpose and
refuse to support the central figures are, bluntly speaking, people who
'destroy their own castle from within' (cf. WND-1, 217) in that through
their actions they end up aiding and abetting the real enemies.

"Let us forever engrave in our lives the motto: 'Winning through perfect
unity' (cf. WND-1, 618). With this resolve, let's continue to build a united
organisation through our faith and concerted efforts, and create a rhythm of
unceasing victory."

SGI Newsletter No. 7657, LEARNING FROM THE GOSHO: THE HOPE-FILLED WRITINGS
OF NICHIREN DAISHONIN, [12] "Many in Body, One in Mind" -- "The Spirit of
Many in Body, One in Mind" Is the Path to Certain Victory, from the
September 2008 issue of the Daibyakurenge, translated Oct. 31st.
