-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Let's be very careful not to be deceived by
bank-transfer scams or any other form of fraud.*
Let's never be careless or overconfident
(in the case you do receive such types of phone calls).
If you sense that something doesn't sound right or something is unusual,
first of all, before taking any action,
check things out and confirm the facts carefully and
don't hesitate to consult someone whom you can trust and who is
knowledgeable about such things.

* In Japan, it was reported that between January and
August, 2008, 21.3 billion yen was swindled out of people throughout the
country through bank-transfer scams.

Such incidents include the "It's me" scam, con artists typically telephone
people and pretend to be a relative in trouble who desperately is in need of
money.

In more recent methods, the fraudsters pretend to be calling from
a social insurance office or tax office. They tell their
potential victims that they will receive refunds for
overpaid public health insurance premiums or taxes. They
then dupe the victims into making money transfers at an ATM.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Winter always turns to spring."

(Winter Always Turns to Spring - The Writings of Nichiren
Daishonin, Vol.1, page 536) Selection source: Soka Gakkai
member's experience, Seikyo Shimbun, November 12th, 2008

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Buddhism is concerned with winning. This is a point that Nichiren Daishonin
made emphatically clear. The law of cause and effect operating within our
lives is very strict. We cannot fool ourselves; we know in our hearts when
we have won or when we have given in to defeat. Those who win through faith
plant the cause to attain Buddhahood deep within their beings. When we
earnestly challenge ourselves and are able to declare with all our hearts,
'I have won!' the tremendous good fortune we gain as a result will adorn our
lives eternally. This is the life-state, the strength, and the life-force of
a Buddha.

"Those who succumb to self-defeat cannot accumulate good fortune. They
create the cause to feel regret in their lives. That is why it's so
important to win, to triumph in our lives. That is the direct way to
experience the true power of Buddhahood within us. There is no greater joy
than this."
