newspaper! Anyhow we held on to "Words of the Week" to cover the gap, hope that is
OK!
A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shimbun and more.
June 15th-21st, 2009
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
We cannot express enough how grateful we are for all the noble steps that our
uncrowned heroes and heroines take to deliver the Seikyo Shimbun
and all our other SGI publications!
Let's try to follow in their footsteps and take courageous and decisive steps for the
sake of kosen-rufu.
In life those who do the "leg work" will quite naturally lead victorious lives.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it,
though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might
cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it
could never come about that the prayers of the Lotus Sutra
would go unanswered."
(On Prayer - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1,
page 345) Selection source: Living Buddhism, Seikyo
Shimbun, June 15th, 2009
APOLOGIES, June 12th's Daily Gosho had a bit missing! Thank you Elaine for pointing
it out! It should have read...
"A sword is useless in the hands of a coward. The mighty
sword of the Lotus Sutra must be wielded by one courageous
in faith. Then one will be as strong as a demon armed with
an iron staff."
(Reply to Kyo'o - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin,
Vol.1, page 412) Selection source: "Kyo no Hosshin",
Seikyo Shimbun, June 12th, 2009

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Mentors believe in their disciples. And it is precisely because of their immense
faith and hope in their disciples that they don't go easy on them, that they train
them thoroughly and are strict with them. Disciples who respond wholeheartedly to
their mentor's belief in them can bring forth immeasurable power and ability. This is
the rhythm of mentor and disciple. It is a symphony of victory."

Kayo-kai, from the June 3rd, 2009, issue of the Seikyo Shimbun, translated June
