-- TO MY FRIENDS --
When one dedicates oneself wholeheartedly,
and when deep faith spurs us to do our utmost for kosen-rufu,
life becomes beautifully fragrant with unlimited good fortune
and happiness, and our state of life expands limitlessly!
Let's all open up this grand path of happiness in our lives
as well as in the lives of others).

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
(Deep in the Snow Mountains lives a bird called the cold-suffering bird that, tortured by the numbing cold, cries that it will build a nest in the morning. Yet when day breaks, it sleeps away the hours in the warm light of the morning sun without building its nest. So it continues to cry vainly throughout its life.) The same is true of human beings.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In a letter addressed to a follower worried about a sick family member, the Daishonin writes: 'If you believe in this [Lotus] sutra, all your desires will be fulfilled in both the present and the future' (WND-1, 750). He then cites the following sutra passages: 'Although the devil and the devil's people will be there, they will all protect the Buddhist Law' [LSOC6, 145], and '[If a person who has an illness is able to hear this sutra, then] his illness will be wiped out and he will know neither aging nor death' [LSOC23, 330] (WND-1, 750). There is no situation that cannot be overcome and no future that cannot be transformed through faith in the
Mystic Law.

"From the penetrating viewpoint of Buddhism, each of the hardships and problems we encounter has profound meaning. Difficult times are an opportunity to accumulate immeasurable 'treasures of the heart' (WND-1, 851). Our trials and tribulations in this world are there for us to unite with our family and loved ones to attain good fortune and to win and prosper in life.

"Naturally, the 'treasures of the storehouse' and 'treasures of the body' (cf. WND-1, 851) are also important, but the 'treasures of the heart' alone enable us to win in the end, and also to bring our lives to a brilliant close and to make our way through all future existences imbued with the four noble virtues of eternity, happiness, true self, and purity. In other words, when we possess strong faith, we are rich beyond compare; we are 'spiritual billionaires.'"
SGI Newsletter No. 8104, 'The Treasures of the Heart Are the Most Valuable of All', from the December 2010 issue of Daibyakurenge, translated Nov. 18th, 2010
