* Here in Tokyo...we had another serious quake today and we've been told to possibly expect similar ones in the next 24 hours. Everyone is OK though. Up north again this last earthquake has killed one person and reports are still coming in of injuries. Power outages are suddenly occurring where the earthquakes are more severe but power is restored quite quickly afterwards - 20 or 30 minutes. In Fukushima where the crippled nuclear power station is, the government has conservatively increased the areas people must evacuate from as higher radiation readings are occurring. When these people will be able to return to their property is unknown and serious concerns are being voiced about how to look after farm animals and crops when the people are required to leave. The Soka Gakkai has started a "Delivery - Discussion Meeting" service...people who would like to be visited and have mini-discussion meetings can now phone for one and local leaders will come to visit them in small vans in the more badly hit areas or where people have been told to stay in doors. "At first one may seem to have faith in the Lotus Sutra, but it is hard to maintain that faith to the last. Water, for example, may be stirred by the wind, or blossoms may lose their hue with the fading of the morning dew. How, then, have you been able to persist in your faith up until today? It must be thanks entirely to the blessings you have acquired in previous existences, and to the care bestowed on you by Shakyamuni Buddha. How heartening is that thought, how heartening indeed!"

By winning successive victories for the sake of the common people
let us cast a ray of great hope over all the people of Japan.
