-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The strength of the SGI organization
lies in the bonds that unite people to one another.
Let us open up the path of hope for our friends and family
through our strong prayer for the establishment of the correct teaching for the peace of the land,*
and through our solid and indestructible golden unity!
* Rissho Ankoku Ron: On July 16, 1260, Nichiren presented his treatise entitled Rissho Ankoku Ron, literally "On Establishing the Correct Teaching for the Peace of the Land," to the most politically powerful figure in Japan, the retired regent Hojo Tokiyori. He had perceived the corruption of self-promoting priests who were currying favor with political authorities, and his treatise was a passionate cry for a return to the original purpose of Buddhism--securing the peace and happiness of the people.
