A translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
-- TO MY FRIENDS --
To transfer the great benefit that we accumulate ourselves
through practising the Mystic Law to the deceased -
this is the ultimate true offering we can make to them.*
Together, let's continue the journey to attain the four virtues of
eternity, happiness, true self, and purity.**
*"Now when Nichiren and his followers perform ceremonies for the deceased, reciting the Lotus Sutra and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the ray of light from the daimoku reaches all the way to the hell of incessant suffering and makes it possible for them to attain Buddhahood then and there. This is the origin of the prayers for transference of merit for the deceased." - The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, Introduction Chapter, page 17
** four virtues (shi-toku): Four noble qualities of a Buddha's life—eternity, happiness, true self, and purity. These describe the true nature of a Buddha's life, which is pure and eternal, and which manifests the true self and enjoys absolute happiness. Because ordinary people possess the Buddha nature, they too can develop the four virtues when they attain Buddhahood by fulfilling the Buddha's teachings.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."

"Everything depends on people. The Soka Gakkai is the great earth that nurtures and cultivates people's potential. Fostering boundless capable Bodhisattvas of the Earth, it is opening a bright and positive future for humanity.
I am endlessly grateful to the future division leaders and everyone else who is supporting and encouraging our young members.
Sincere prayers and warm encouragement are key to inspiring young lives. As we nurture our young people to grow into fine adults, let's joyfully share with them our convictions in faith."
