[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 22nd-28th Oct. 2018 Words of the Week, 22nd Oct. Daily Gosho + 23rd Oct. Daily Encouragement

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

October 22nd-28th, 2018
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK -
The benefits that we gain through
chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo
day by day and month after month
   are just immeasurable.*
Let's advance by chanting daimoku,
with the rhythm like that of
 a white horse galloping,
infused with the vow that we made!
Always starting with chanting,
let's create value each day!

* "For this reason, the benefits to be gained by reciting the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo are great indeed." - "On Reciting the Daimoku of the Lotus Sutra", WND-II, page 229
**Gongyo revitalises us from the very depths of our being. Therefore, the important thing is to do gongyo each day filled with a feeling of rhythm and cadence—like a white horse galloping through the heavens. I hope you will do the kind of satisfying gongyo that leaves you refreshed and revitalised in both body and mind.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----

"Today, the winds of economic recession are blowing fiercely around the world.. We mustn't simply lament the situation, but should instead summon powerful wisdom and life force through our Buddhist practice and use it to brilliantly overcome difficult circumstances. That is what makes us 'one [who] understands the meaning of all worldly affairs' (cf. WND – 1, 376)."
