A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.
October 1st-7th, 2018
we have connections with to become happy.
The actions we take as Bodhisattvas of the Earth,
bring about immeasurable joy
and a sense of fulfilment in our lives.
The Daishonin teaches us,
"Our legs correspond to kyo."*
Let's go and meet others,
talk and create a heart to heart bond
with as many people as we can!
*Gosho: "Or again we may say that our head corresponds to myō, our throat to hō, our chest to ren,our stomach to ge, and our legs to kyō. Hence this five-foot body of ours constitutes the five characters of Myoho-renge-kyo." - OTT, page 28

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Be diligent in developing your faith until the last moment of your life. Otherwise you will have regrets."
(Letter to Niike -
WND, Vol. 1, page 1027)
Selection Source: "Kyo no Hosshin,"
Seikyo Shinbun, October 1st, 2018
- From 'The Opening of the Eyes' (WND – 1, 281-82).
"Earlier in this letter, Nichiren Daishonin wrote that he had faced four major persecutions* (cf. WND – 1, 240). He set a towering example of triumphantly overcoming a succession of life-threatening trials..
"We are heirs to the Daishonin's spirit. Even when confronted by repeated difficulties and hardships--including for instance, the recurrence of illness--there is absolutely no need to be daunted. It is all the 'Buddha's design' for us to develop an indestructible state of life (cf. WND – 1, 937).
"When the going gets tough, strive earnestly in faith without complaint or doubt, forging ahead to attain a great, everlasting life state imbued with the four noble virtues of eternity, joy, true self and purity!"
Advancing with the Gosho - (32) Remaining Undefeated by Repeated Hardships, from 21st August, 2018 issue of the Seikyo Shinbun, translation released September 2018
* The four major persecutions are: the Matsubagayatsu Persecution (1260), the Izu Exile (1261), the Komatsubara Persecution (1264) and the Tatsunokuchi Persecution and Sado Exile (1271).
