[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 8th Dec. 2018 To My Friends & Daily Gosho + 9th Dec. daily Encouragement

A translation of "To My Friends" published in the Seikyo Shinbun based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The Daishonin teaches us,
"Teaching another something is the same
as oiling the wheels of a cart
so that they turn even though it is heavy."*
Offering personal guidance
or encouragement to members in the SGI
lifts people's spirits and helps people
to lighten the burden of all
kinds of problems.
Let's, therefore, with utmost sincerity
and good wisdom,
make every possible effort to support them!

*"Teaching another something is the same as oiling the wheels of a cart so that they turn even though it is heavy, or as floating a boat on water so that it moves ahead easily. The way to become a Buddha easily is nothing special. It is the same as giving water to a thirsty person in a time of drought, or as providing fire for a person freezing in the cold." - WND-I, page 1086

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"If not a friend, then who would visit me here."

(Offerings in the Snow
- WND, Vol. 2, page 809)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy what there is to enjoy. Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, no matter what happens. How could this be anything other than the boundless joy of the law?' (WND – one, 681)

"Irrespective of the struggles we may face, as long as we continue to chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo for ourselves and others, there is no hardship we cannot overcome.

"The more difficulties we surmount through faith based on the Buddhist principle that earthly desires lead to enlightenment, the more we can expand our life state and the more powerfully we can encourage our friends and fellow members who are also struggling. This is 'a life shining with the brilliance of maturity' achieved through human revolution. When our lives radiate with such hope, we can brightly illuminate all whose lives are connected to ours, society as a whole and the future."
