It is stated that the seeds of Buddhahood
sprout as a result of conditions.*
Let's, therefore, cherish our old friends and,
at the same time, cultivate new friendships
with as many people as we can!
*Gosho: "I entrust you with the propagation of Buddhism in your province. It is stated that 'the seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions, and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.'"

"'From the indigo, an even deeper blue' — these words were very important to both first and second Soka Gakkai presidents, Mr. Makiguchi and Mr. Toda.
"By dyeing and re-dyeing fabric and thread with the liquid extracted from the indigo plant, a blue that is more intense than the colour of the plant itself is produced. In the same way, disciples need to strive to become even more capable than their mentor.
"All of you, my dear friends who have chosen to be born at this particular time, are true disciples who embody the principle of 'from the indigo, an even deeper blue' — the successors who will continue the relay of inheriting and passing on the baton of kosen-rufu towards 2030 and onward towards the 22nd century."
