-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Our daimoku can turn distress into joy,
and joy into the greatest of joys.
As the Daishonin reminds us:
"Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life,"*
let's advance by making chanting daimoku
the utmost of importance,
no matter what happens!

*Gosho: "Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy what there is to enjoy. Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo-myoho-renge-kyo, no matter what happens." -  WND-1, page 681

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."

(On Prayer - WND, Vol. 1, page 345)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'Unlike most people, in the course of spreading these doctrines of mine I, Nichiren, have occasion to meet with a great many persons' (WND –2, 778,). Dialogue dedicated to 'establishing the correct teaching for the peace of the land,' which the Daishonin carried out fearlessly in the face of persecution, was revived in modern times by Mr. Makiguchi, who himself met 'with a great many persons.'

"Always energetic and full of vigour, Mr. Makiguchi declared: 'Being active is the key to good health.' During World War II, when the transportation system was poor, he visited Kyushu (the southernmost of Japan's four main islands) on numerous occasions. On his way there, he would often stop in Hyogo Prefecture, where he met with and encouraged one person after another, helping them forge a connection with Buddhism. He personally established the Kobe Chapter during the pioneering days of our organisation."

Constructing the New Era, Forge Ahead with hearts Bright like the Sun!, from 1st June, 2019 issue of the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released July 2019
