[sgi-tomyfriends-wagatomo] Oct. 11-18, 2020 Words of the Week, Oct. 11 Daily Gosho + Oct. 12 Daily Encouragement

Tomorrow is a Japanese national press holiday to give all those involved in producing and delivering a newspaper a short break. Therefore "Words of the Week" is out today and there will be no "To My Friends" tomorrow BUT don't worry we'll still be going with the rest!

A translation of "Words of the Week" published in the Seikyo Newspaper based on President Ikeda's recent guidance, and more.

October 11th-18th, 2020
-- Words of the Week --
The Daishonin encourages us,
"I want people with seeking minds
to meet and read this letter
together (for encouragement)."*
Our discussion meetings are
what empowers us to win in life.
Through chanting
from deep within
now more than ever,
let's have the type of gatherings
that warm our hearts and are joyful.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"In reference to the Bodhisattvas of the Earth, Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'These great bodhisattvas [who emerged from the earth] are particularly suited to bring benefit to people in the Latter Day of the Law, like fish who are at home in the water or birds that move freely through the sky' (WND-2, 551).

The Bodhisattvas of the Earth voluntarily appear in the corrupt age of the Latter Day of the Law, based on their vow. They are committed to overcoming any obstacle, no matter the circumstances, opening the way for kosen-rufu, and leading all people to happiness and the world to peace.

Demonstrating their true strengths as the Bodhisattvas of the Earth, the mentors and disciples of Soka have taken on daunting challenges and steadfastly created value."
