January 10th-16th, 2022
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
The Daishonin encourages us,
"Exert yourself in the two ways
of practice and study."*
To those who are celebrating
becoming adults,**
may you all advance
brimming with hope!
To our newly appointed leaders,
may you all be the vanguard
(of kosen-rufu)
and forever victorious!
Let's all advance joyfully together
along the great path
towards happiness and peace!

*Gosho: "The True Aspect of All Phenomena" - WND, Vol. page 386
** The second Monday of January every year, is when traditionally all young Japanese people reaching the age of 20, between April 2nd and April 1st of the following year, celebrate their "Coming of Age/Adulthood."

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"Exert yourself in the two ways of practice and study. Without practice and study, there can be no Buddhism. You must not only persevere yourself; you must also teach others. Both practice and study arise from faith. Teach others to the best of your ability, even if it is only a single sentence or phrase."

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'Be prepared for the worst, and not to expect good times, but take the bad times for granted.'

From 'On Persecutions Befalling the Sage' (WND–1, 998).

"With his boundless and eternally abiding compassion, Nichiren Daishonin, the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law, taught us a way of life of supreme conviction, of the strongest, noblest and most profound commitment. This is the path of faith in the Mystic Law.

"If we remain resolute in our conviction that we embody the Mystic Law and stay committed to our vow to achieve kosen-rufu, we will not be afraid of anything. The power and wisdom to overcome all hardships will flow forth limitlessly from within us.

"Teaching me the key to victory, my mentor Josei Toda said: 'Resolve to win and then do just that!'"

Spreading the Brilliant Light of the Daishonin's writings, [56] Strive with Resolute Faith, translated from the October 7th, 2021, issue of the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released December 2021.
