-- TO MY FRIENDS --
We ourselves are the protagonists
of kosen-rufu.
"I will do it!"
when we are self-motivated
and proactive in our faith and practice
and with such determination,
a drama overflowing with joy begins.
Today again,
let's challenge ourselves
to take another step forwards.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"You are extending the life of the Lotus Sutra, and thus making offerings to the Buddhas of the three existences. This means, I think, that your benefit is that of opening the eyes of all the living beings in the ten directions. No words can express how sublime this is."

(Reply to Ueno - WND, Vol. 2, page 590)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"'The fire burns higher when logs are added, and a strong wind makes a kalakula grow larger. The pine tree lives for ten thousand years, and therefore its boughs become bent and twisted. The votary [practitioner] of the Lotus Sutra is like the fire and the kalakula, while his persecutions are like the logs and the wind.'

- From 'The Difficulty of Sustaining Faith' (WND-1, 471).

"Nichiren Daishonin wrote these words as warm encouragement for his disciple Shijo Kingo who had lamented that 'great hardships have showered down on me like rain' (WND–1, 471). Faith hinges on the determination to uphold the Mystic Law, unperturbed by any hardship.

"From our movement's earliest days, adversity has always been a catalyst for our inner growth—forging a strong, positive and expansive state of life—and our organisations development. In both our efforts for kosen-rufu and our personal lives, being assailed by obstacles is a sign that our victory is assured. Step forwards boldly!"

Spreading the Brilliant Light of the Daishonin's Writings, [59] Adversity Is a Catalyst for Expanding Our Lives, from 29th October, 2021 issue fo the Seikyo Newspaper, translation released February 2022.
