-- TO MY FRIENDS --
"Just like oiling the wheels of a cart 

so that they turn even though
it is heavy,
or floating a boat on water 

so that it moves ahead easily,"*
when we offer words of encouragement 

to someone,
let's be thoughtful and use our wisdom 

to lift their spirits
so that they are inspired to push forwards.
This is how our movement for kosen-rufu 

is certain to advance!

*Gosho: "Teaching another something is the same as oiling the wheels of a cart so that they turn even though it is heavy, or as floating a boat on water so that it moves ahead easily."

"The Daishonin says: 'Great joy [is what] one experiences when one understands for the first time that one's mind from the very beginning has been a Buddha. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the greatest of all joys' (OTT, 211–12). Prayer in Nichiren Buddhism enables us to awaken to the truth that our mind, our life, has always been a Buddha. In other words, we awaken to the ultimate reality that our lives at the very essence are truly noble, strong and wise. That is the purpose of our prayers."
