-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Buddhism teaches that our life is
"like the lotus flower in the water".*
Our faith and practice
in this Buddhism enables us
to make the flower of happiness
bloom amidst the harsh realities
of daily life,
just like the lotus flower blossoms
in muddy waters!
Now in the Latter Day of the Law
- "an age of quarrels and disputes",**
we are the ones that
can create and give hope
and fulfil our missions
as Bodhisattvas of the Earth.
* "The Sutra says, '[They are] unsoiled by worldly things like the lotus flower in the water. Emerging from the earth...' Here we see that the lotus is being used here as a simile."
