Though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered.

"Replying to a disciple's question about the magnificent treasure tower that appears in the Lotus Sutra, Nichiren Daishonin sums up his explanation by saying: '[You yourself] are the treasure tower and the treasure tower is [you yourself|' (see WND-1, 299). He then adds: 'No other knowledge is purposeful' (WND-1, 299).
"What he is saying here is that our lives themselves are truly great and worthy of respect.
"When you chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, you can make the treasure tower of your life shine brilliantly, just as you are. That is the promise of Nichiren Daishonin, the Buddha of the Latter Day of the Law.
"There is no need to compare yourself to others, allowing that to control you, or to be swayed by others' opinions of you. You mustn't put yourself down."
