"Nichiren Daishonin writes: 'The sutra texts tell us that a single person in the course of a single day has eight million four thousand thoughts' (WND-2, 307). That is how much our hearts or minds waver. Moment to moment, we go from happy to sad, determined to uncertain. This is especially true in our youth. That is why it's important that we always turn our ever-changing minds in the best, most positive direction.
"When we chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, the fundamental Law of the universe, the sun rises in our hearts. Even when storms of worries assail us and dark clouds of anxiety set in, doing gongyo and chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo morning and evening enables us to sweep them away and cause a bright rainbow of hope to shine within."
