-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The spirit of 'July 3rd' is indestructible and will live on for ever.*
To all of my dear SGI friends,
let's all become the Count(s) of Monte Cristo of Soka,**
and achieve total victories and so open up the path to a glorious future!

*July 3 - Day of Mentor and Disciple.
On July 3, 1945, President Josei Toda was released from
Toyotama Prison. Twelve years later, on July 3rd, 1957,
President Daisaku Ikeda was arrested by the public
prosecutor's office in Osaka on false charges of election
law violations. Deceived by the prosecutors, and
determined to protect President Toda, he pleaded guilty.
He was released on July 17 and vowed to prove innocence in
court.

** "A precipitous path lay ahead of Shin'ichi--a series of
trying ascents on rugged peaks, shrouded in heavy fog.
Nevertheless, he had to forge ahead--to prove the validity
of Buddhism and the justness of the Soka Gakkai, to
continue a song of human triumph.

"He vowed to win ultimate victory, just like the Count of
Monte Cristo, who, while languishing in the dark prison of
Chateau d'If on false charges, continued to struggle
dauntlessly to clear his name. He remembered the Count of
Monte Cristo's final words in the novel: 'All human wisdom
is contained in these words: Wait and hope!'" (The Human

water constitutes a winning rhythm. It's important that we chant at an invigorating
pace resembling that of a noble steed galloping across the open plains. Daimoku is
the driving force for absolute victory."
