-- TO MY FRIENDS --
Fearless indomitable courage! This is the "Okinawan Spirit".
It is my fervent wish that these treasure islands* that illuminate the world,
send forth surging waves, carrying (the message of) peace and justice (far and wide)!*
Let us dance joyfully to the rhythm and spirit
of the victory of the mentor and disciple relationship!
* Okinawa, is one of Japan's southern most prefectures, consisting of hundreds of islands spread over a 1000 km area. During World War II, Japan had used these islands as a first line of defence against the Allied forces, deeming them expendable in preventing an assault on Japan's main islands, and as a result countless Okinawan lives had been cruelly sacrificed. After the war, under American rule, Okinawa had become home to several U.S. military bases. It was here in Okinawa, that President Ikeda chose to start writing his novel, The Human Revolution, on December 2nd, 1964 with a fervent wish that the people of Okinawa will transform this land that had seen so much human tragedy into a haven of lasting peace and prosperity.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When one comes to realise and see that each thing--the cherry, the plum, the peach, the damson--in its own entity, without undergoing any change, possesses the eternally endowed three bodies, then this is what is meant by the word ryo, 'to include' or all inclusive."
(Ongi kuden - Gosho Zenshu, page 784, The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings, page 200)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Gaps of various kinds always arise between plans and reality. That is why it is essential to actually test one's plans to see how well they work in practice.
"Shin'ichi had always done this himself. When a plan based on abstract theories is put into actual practice, things may not always turn out as expected and problems can arise. In some cases, these can even lead to accidents. As a result, it is vital to plan based on the actual conditions as ascertained through careful and repeated checking."
