-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
With a cheerful and refreshing spirit,
let's hold vibrant discussion meetings this month,
that propel us into a great fresh start to the new year.
Buddhism is all about our "behaviour as human beings".*
Let's, therefore, make sure to express our utmost
appreciation to the families of our members
who are kind enough to offer their homes for our meetings.
At the same time, let's try to be as considerate and
thoughtful of their neighbours and surroundings as we possibly can.
*"The purpose of the appearance in this world of Shakyamuni Buddha, the lord of teachings, lies in his behaviour as a human being." - "The Three Kinds of Treasure", WND-I, page 852

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"And yet, though one might point at the earth and miss it, though one might bind up the sky, though the tides might cease to ebb and flow and the sun rise in the west, it could never come about that the prayers of the practitioner of the Lotus Sutra would go unanswered."
(On Prayer - The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, Vol.1, page 345)\

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Bodhisattva Never Disparaging appeared in an age when the truth that all people's lives are infinitely respectworthy had been lost and society was filled with individuals of overbearing arrogance. It was during such a time that he transformed people's lives through the power of the principle of respect for all human beings.
"The noble actions of SGI members today devoting themselves to the happiness of others are in exact accord with those of Bodhisattva Never Disparaging."
