"In the "New Year's Gosho," Nichiren Daishonin writes:

"'Fortune comes from one's heart and makes one worthy of respect. The sincerity of making offerings to the Lotus Sutra at the beginning of the New Year is like cherry blossoms blooming from trees, a lotus unfolding in a pond, sandalwood leaves unfurling on the Snow Mountains, or the moon beginning to rise.' (WND-1, 1137)

"I will continue chanting so that 'blossoms' of health, benefit, and happiness will bloom fragrantly in your lives and a beautiful 'moon' of supreme fulfillment will shine over you in the year ahead.

"Starting from this moment, from the place where you are right now, please make this year one of great triumph as you strive forwards with hope, courage, fortitude, and optimism.

"I would like to present you, my beloved fellow members, with the following poem:

"'Forever walk
this golden path
on your journey of happiness.'

"I rejoice at your lives of eternal victory!"
