[SGI-ToMyFriends-Wagatomo] 9th-15th May, 2016 Words of the Week, 9th May Daily Gosho & 10th May Daily Encouragement

A translation of President Ikeda's "Words of the Week"
published in the Seikyo Shinbun and more.

May 9th-15th, 2016
-- WORDS OF THE WEEK --
Let's always try to go in the very best
of good spirits to meet our friends!
Therein lies the very noble path
towards us achieving kosen-rufu.
The Daishonin teaches us,
"The seeds of Buddhahood sprout as a result of conditions,
(and for this reason they preach the single vehicle.)"*
Let's, therefore, do our best
to create a positive cheerful atmosphere
through our conversations,
where people want to make a connection with Buddhism
and one in which we also raise our own life conditions!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"When an evil ruler in consort with priests of erroneous teachings tries to destroy the correct teaching and do away with a man of wisdom, those with the heart of a lion king are sure to attain Buddhahood."
(Letter from Sado
- WND, Vol. I, page 302)

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"Birds who don't fly lose the ability to do so. They lose the use of their wings and can't soar into the skies of happiness. An Olympic athlete who doesn't run or doesn't train cannot win. Lazy people who don't strive, don't act, don't advance, end up losing in life.

"Striving and progressing for some purpose or goal—this is the essence of happiness."
