-- TO MY FRIENDS --
It's becoming colder every day
and (the cold/flu season is about to
come into full swing.)
By washing our hands thoroughly,
and gargling more often than usual,
paying closer attention to our diet
and quantity and quality of sleep, etc.,
let's take all possible measures
against infectious diseases.
Good health is indeed the very basis
of everything.

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
"It also states that, if the minds of living beings are impure, their land is also impure, but if their minds are pure, so is their land. There are not two lands, pure or impure in themselves. The difference lies solely in the good or evil of our minds."

(On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The human heart, the mind, is truly wondrous and unfathomable. Everything can be transformed by the 'wonderful workings of our heart, or mind' (cf. OTT, 30).

"In a letter that Mr. Makiguchi sent to his family from prison, he wrote: 'Depending on one's state of mind, even hell can be enjoyable.'"*

* Translated from Japanese. Tsunesaburo Makiguchi, Makiguchi Tsunesaburo Zenshu (Collected Writings of Tsunesaburo Makiguchi), (Tokyo: Daisanbunmei-sha, 1987), vol. 10, p285.
