"'Point 3, on the passage "If one of these good men or good women in the time after I have passed into extinction is able to secretly expound the Lotus Sutra to one person, even one phrase of it, then you should know that he or she is the envoy of the Thus Come One. He has been dispatched by the Thus Come One and carries out the Thus Come One's Work." [LSOC10, 200]

"... Each of us has been born at this particular time and place as an envoy of the Buddha. As mentor and disciples, as comrades in faith, linked by profound karmic ties, we are living our lives together dedicated to a shared noble mission.

"The passage from The Record of the Orally Transmitted Teachings says that, in light of the Lotus Sutra, Nichiren Daishonin and his followers who are spreading the Mystic Law in the Latter Day are the true envoys of the Buddha.

"It further states that '"Thus Come one" also refers to the living beings of the Ten Worlds and three thousand realms' (0TT, 83), indicating that we living beings are all originally Thus Come Ones; in other words, Buddhas.

"The 'envoy of the Thus Come One,' therefore, is not some special being. Anyone who has faith in the Gohonzon, chants Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and encourages others to do the same is carrying out the 'Thus Come One's work,' which makes them a genuine envoy of the Buddha."

They stay concealed away inside the trees' branches, enduring the rain and snow while drawing moisture and nutrients from the roots and building up strength. When spring arrives, they eagerly shoot forth buds that grow into shining new leaves.

"We all have the experience of things not working out the way we hoped in spite of trying our hardest. But in reality, those are the times when we are storing up the nourishment we need for future growth. When the time comes, we can use that nourishment to greatly expand our capabilities. Eventually, we will come to see every hardship as a precious memory.

"That's why it's important for us to keep chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo through all--both when things are going well and when they are not--and strive each day with fresh determination. Please keep steadily nurturing the young buds of potential that you inherently possess."

The Daishonin teaches,
"The fundamental nature of enlightenment 

manifests itself as Brahmā and Shakra."*
It's through our united daimoku 

and unceasing efforts to have dialogue
with others that a palace for peace 

is developed in people's hearts.
Let's advance aiming towards 

the abolition of nuclear weapons!**

*"The fundamental nature of enlightenment manifests itself as Brahmā and Shakra, whereas the fundamental darkness manifests itself as the devil king of the sixth heaven."

- Fighting Disrespect for Human Life: "Abolish nuclear weapons!" "Repudiate the insidious disrespect for human life that underlies their creation!"—we of the Soka Gakkai are ceaselessly striving to fulfil these injunctions of second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda.  This is the struggle of the Bodhisattvas of the Earth to vanquish fundamental darkness or ignorance and bring forth the fundamental nature of enlightenment—the Buddha nature—inherent in all people, building an indestructible fortress of peace in each person's heart. It is a spiritual struggle to establish respect for the dignity of life as a core tenet of global society. Today again, let's challenge ourselves in dialogue, sharing the humanistic ideals and principles of Nichiren Buddhism, for that is the surest way to achieve that goal."

Those persons who have spoken slanderously of me will in time chant in the same way."

"Our movement for kosen-rufu advances by revitalising one person after another, one community after another.

"During his exile on Sado Island, Nichiren Daishonin made the lives of his disciples there shine as "treasure towers" and illuminated his environment as a realm of Eternally Tranquil Light. In accord with the Daishonin's spirit, our precious members living on remote outlying islands have patiently worked to turn even those "who have spoken slanderously" into supporters of our movement, and sincerely built a network of trust and respect. that causes severe coldness!
At the same time, 

be prepared for possible blizzards.
Caring for each other 

and warning one another,
let's always make our safety 

our top priority

* Japan, particularly on the west coast, is expecting record snowfall, with possibly 3 metres more snow in the next 3 days. Even if this phenomena is unique to certain parts of Asia, please be careful of sudden weather changes and be ready to act where need be.
