-- TO MY FRIENDS --
The first step towards
encouraging one person
is to earnestly lend an ear
to what they have to say.
Think very carefully
about their situation,
empathise with
what they are going through,
and share words that
open the door to their heart!

--- DAILY GOSHO ---
This passage ["When the poor man saw the jewel / his heart was filled with great joy"] refers to the great joy that one experiences when one understands for the first time that one's mind from the very beginning has been a Buddha. Nam-myoho-renge-kyo is the greatest of all joys.

---- DAILY ENCOURAGEMENT ----
"The pine tree lives for ten thousand years, and therefore its boughs become bent and twisted.... The votary of the Lotus Sutra is the Thus Come One [the Buddha] whose lifespan is immeasurable; no wonder his practice is hindered, just as the pine trees branches are bent or broken.

- From 'The Difficulty of Sustaining Faith' (WND-1, 471)

"Nichiren Daishonin states that the votary, or practitioner, of the Lotus Sutra is the 'Thus Comes One whose lifespan is immeasurable' and is therefore destined to face ceaseless obstacles. Only by overcoming challenges and difficulties can we firmly establish the indestructible life state of Buddhahood.

"The essence of faith lies in steadfastly continuing to uphold the Mystic Law amid the harsh realities of society. The Buddhas and heavenly deities throughout the universe are sure to rejoice and protect those who do so.

"My dear friends, champions of Soka! With unwavering prayer, may you stand tall like mighty trees unshaken by any storm."
