"Difficult economic times continue. There are also members who are battling illness. When I think of the various struggles and challenges of our members, I am moved to chant even more earnestly for their happiness and well-being.
Nichiren Daishonin writes:
"Though worldly troubles may arise, never let them disturb you. No one can avoid problems, not even sages or worthies.... Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy what there is to enjoy. Regard both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, no matter what happens. (WND-1, 681)
"Regardless of what challenges we face in the course of life, we can definitely win in the end through faith in the Mystic Law, which has the power to transform poison into medicine.
"With a powerful determination in faith to achieve absolute victory, please make your way in life with bright hope and joy. For all of you, my disciples, to realise happy and victorious lives is how I can repay my debt of gratitude to my own mentor."
