"'When I, Nichiren, first took faith in the Lotus Sutra, I was like a single drop of water or a single particle of dust in all the country of Japan. But later, when two people, three people, ten people, and eventually a hundred, a thousand, ten thousand, and a million people come to recite the Lotus Sutra [i.e., chant Nam-myoho-renge-kyo] and transmit it to others, then they will form a Mount Sumeru of perfect enlightenment,[1] an ocean of great nirvana.[2] Seek no other path by which to attain Buddhahood!' (WND-1, 580)
"Kosen-rufu advances when one disciple after another stands up to carry on the mentor's struggle with the same resolve and aspiration as the mentor, chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo and transmitting the teachings to others. That practice is the only path for attaining Buddhahood in the Latter Day of the Law and building an enlightened realm of peace and happiness.
"Through striving for kosen-rufu with unsparing devotion based on the Mystic Law, we can overcome every hardship and confidently reveal our true highest potential for all the world to see. We can acquire a dignity and integrity as a human being that neither persecution by the powerful nor karmic suffering can destroy. The spread of this way of life from one individual to another is kosen-rufu. Through this effort to establish the correct teaching for the peace of the land, we can change the destiny of humankind."

[1] Perfect enlightenment constitutes the last and highest of the fifty-two stages of bodhisattva practice, or Buddhahood. It is the stage at which one eradicates fundamental darkness.
[2] Great nirvana represents the Buddha's sublime state of enlightenment, absolutely calm and imperturbable, and endowed with profound compassion and wisdom.
