"When the year-end comes, let's raise high the banner of our invincible resolve—proclaiming another year of victory and a vow to win again in the new year ahead. Each triumphant year becomes a milestone in our ongoing human revolution.

"I am reminded of the words of my mentor, second Soka Gakkai president Josei Toda: 'Through practising the Daishonin's Buddhism, we gain the strength to pick ourselves up, regain our footing, and start over again, no matter how many times we may stumble and fall. Never be afraid, no matter what happens!'"
