to never be the cause of a traffic accident or to be in one!
By chanting daimoku with such strong determination and responsibility,
let's lead meaningful and value-creating lives each and every day!

"I have always gathered with members on the anniversary of the Soka Gakkai's founding, and together with them reaffirmed the Soka Gakkai spirit. Several times, I spent the anniversary in Kansai or the Chubu region. On November 18th, 1979 [the year in which I was forced to step down as the third president of the Soka Gakkai], I was at the Kanagawa Culture Center (in Yokohama), where I gathered together with dear members from Kamakura and other areas who had shared in my struggles. I said to them: 'Ultimately, what matters in faith is having conviction, self-confidence, and hope. A genuine practitioner of the Daishonin's Buddhism is one who keeps brimming with conviction, self-confidence, and hope, and burning with a passionate commitment to kosen-rufu, come what may.'

"It is solely thanks to the dedicated, life-and-death struggles of Mr. Makiguchi and Mr. Toda, mentor and disciple, that we have had the good fortune to encounter the Mystic Law in the present age. As such, it is important that we always return to the founding spirit of the Soka Gakkai, the starting point of all our endeavours, and take action without fear or hesitation to achieve the great vow of kosen-rufu."
