-- TO MY FRIENDS --
No matter how impossible our (karmic) situation might seem to be now,
let's never give up!
By making up our minds that
this is the time to change poison into medicine*,
let's chant daimoku with all our heart.
There is absolutely nothing that can surpass the power of daimoku.

"Shakyamuni, accompanied by Chudapanthaka, visited the ruler of the land [King Prasenajit of Kosala], who asked Shakyamuni the following question: 'How was it that Chudapanthaka was able to master this verse and attain the Way?' To which Shakyamuni replied: 'One doesn't need to study many things. What matters is putting what one has learned into practise in life. . . . Though one has learned many things, if one does not put them into practise, they are of no use.'[1]"
